Our History
Childcare Resource Network (CRN) began business 37 years ago, in September of 1972, as a small, rural child care center in Cedar Bluff, Alabama, serving 12 children. Today, CRN, an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer, is a private Alabama corporation with a 501 (c) (3) tax status that employs approximately 50 child care professionals. The name was officially changed to Childcare Resource Network in 1995.
CRN has completed fourteen successful years of experience managing the administration and implementation of the child care quality enhancement program in Cherokee, DeKalb, Jackson and Marshall counties for the Department of Human Resources. The agency also owns and operates four (4) comprehensive child development centers with sliding fee scales, with an enrollment in excess of 200 children; provides a comprehensive resource and referral program for families and community employers; provides comprehensive training, education, and resource opportunities for parents, providers of care and the communities in two locations; and administers four (4) Alabama First Class Pre-K sites.
The staff at CRN is experienced and dedicated to children and to child care. They have personal knowledge of and relationships with the providers and parents in this region. We are members of the Alabama Association for Young Children (AAYC), Southern Early Childhood Association (SECA), National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), Alabama Association of Licensed Early Care and Education (AALECE), National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (NACCRRA), Children’s Defense Fund (CDF), Federation of Child Care Centers of Alabama (FOCAL), National Association of Child Care Professionals (NACCP), VOICES, Alabama Partnership for Children(APC) and many other professional organizations.
We strive to provide opportunities for loving, safe, and quality child care for parents, at a price they can afford, while at the same time serving our communities with integrity, resourcefulness, and advocacy in our day cares, our Pre-Ks, our resource facilities, and our training facilities
